Automotive Service Excellence

The highly-recognized ASE seal of approval and certification in collision repair technology is offered by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). Collision-repair technicians may receive this certification voluntarily by undergoing fee-based testing provided at multiple locations across the country. Online education and sample tests are also offered by the organization.


Manufacturers


Virgin collision repair technology continues to breed in complexity, requiring ongoing education. Many manufacturers, insurance companies, and body-repair shops require technicians to attend manufacturer-sponsored training seminars in order to remain up-to-date on new products and repair techniques. This is often mandated as a condition of performing work on warranty or insurance claims.


Commerce and vocational schools usually award certification to graduates after six months to one year of read. "Some local colleges feeler two-year programs in collision repair.
