Homemade Rope Lift For Containers

Custom a pulley to assist with hauling buckets.

Hauling buckets up away of wells or up into rafters can miss a collection of energy. To bring about the lifting and hauling easier, apply a mechanical work with a rope and pulley system. Depending on your needs, set up either a single pulley system or use two pulleys to give a 50 percent mechanical assist with your bucket lifts.

Instructions

Single Pulley System

1. Screw the eye screw or hook into the bottom of the well cross-beam--the wooden post across the well's opening--or the rafter where the bucket will be hauled up to.

2. Open the pulley so the hang-hole is exposed and slide it over the eye screw or hook.5. Thread the rope through the first pulley roller and then go under the next pulley roller and loop the rope so it falls down toward the floor or well bottom. Tie one end of the rope to the rafter or well cross-board. Tie the other end to the bucket.

Drop the bucket into the well or lower it to the floor from the rafter.

Double Pulley System

4. Screw two hooks or eye screws into the rafter or the well cross-beam. Space them between 12 and 18 inches apart. Open the two pulleys and slide the pulley holes onto the screws or hooks. Close the pulleys.

Close the pulley.3. Thread the 8-mm nylon cord through the pulley roller and tie one end to the bucket. Tie the other end to the well or rafter post to secure it until you need to haul it up or lower it down.

6. Pull the rope to get a 50 percent weight assist with the haul. This means you will only pull with half the force you normally would need but will pull twice as much rope to get the same lengths or lowering and raising.
