18. Replace the nut. Thread it on as far as you can by hand.


19. Spin the wheel and tighten the nut with a socket until just tight. Do not over tighten, the wheel should still spin, but with some resistance. Then, back off the nut and finally tighten the nut until the cotter pin slot lines up; no play is evident when you wiggle the wheel and the wheel freely spins.


20. Replace the cotter pin with a new one and bend the ends over the end of the spindle.


21. Replace the dust cap, tapping it gently until it is fully seated.


22. Using a grease gun, pump grease into the hub if it is equipped with grease fittings. Many are not, so don't be alarmed if your spindles do not have them.
