Instructions


1. Turn the ignition clue to the "On" position, on the other hand don't open the engine.

If there are no screws, simply pull the pad off with your fingers. If your Toyota is equipped with an air-bag system, remove the Torx screw on the right side and the left side of the steering wheel. Use a Torx driver to turn each screw counterclockwise until the head of the screw catches on the screw case. Then pull the center pad out, and unplug the bag electrical connector. Place the center pad on the seat with the pad cover facing up.


8. One switch controls the headlights and dimmer; the other controls the wipers and washer. Use a Phillips screwdriver to unscrew the upper and lower screw on each switch to remove the switches.13.



Use a pair of snap ring pliers to remove the center snap ring if your Toyota is equipped with one.


11. Detach the steering wheel from the steering wheel column using a steering wheel puller.


12. Locate the left and right combination switches. Each switch has a lever. Use correction fluid to matchmark the steering wheel hub and the steering column shaft for alignment during reinstallation.9. Detach the steering wheel from the steering column by removing the center nut with a ratchet and socket.10.


Unplug the ignition switch electrical connector.


14. Unscrew the single mounting bolt from the ignition switch using the Phillips screwdriver, and remove the switch from the steering column.


15. Place the new ignition switch into position, and tighten the single mounting bolt with the Phillips screwdriver.


16. Plug in the ignition switch electrical connector.


17.In reverse order of removal, and using the same tools as above, reinstall the left and right combination switches, the steering wheel (following the matchmarks), the center snap ring (if so equipped), the steering wheel column center nut, the steering wheel center pad and the upper and lower steering column covers.


18. Using the wrench, reconnect the ground battery cable.
