The Kia Spectra has three engine options--the 1.6-liter four-cylinder, the 1.8-liter four-cylinder and the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engines. Although the speck of the starter is underneath the Spectra below the intake manifold on the ring housing of the transmission, the procedure to remove the starter varies per engine type.
Instructions
1.6-Liter Spectra
1. Disconnect the contradiction battery terminal using a plam wrench. Lift the automobile up on the vehivle lift to benefit access to the starter. Lay on the safety glasses before going underneath the Spectra.
2. Handle the ratchet and a socket to remove the four intake manifold stay bracket bolts. Remove the bracket.
3.18. Reverse the procedure to install.
5. Remove the lower starter bolt using the ratchet and a socket, and then remove the starter. To install, reverse the procedure.
1.8-Liter Spectra
6. Disconnect the counteractive battery terminal using a share wrench. Lift the machine up on the motorcar lift to accrual access to the starter. Settle on the safety glasses before going underneath the Spectra.
7. Spray the exhaust drainpipe (below the starter) connections with a liberal dimensions of penetrating lubricant and spare to soak. Handle another lubricant spray to the connections between the following three Steps.
8. Remove the two upper intake manifold relieve bracket bolts using the ratchet and a socket.
9. Disconnect the electrical connections from the starter using the ratchet and a socket.
10. Remove the two upper starter bolts.
11. Disconnect the starter cable from the "B" terminal using a ratchet and a socket.16. Remove the connector from the "S" terminal.17.Remove the two starter bolts using a ratchet and a socket, then remove the starter.
Remove the lower intake manifold agency bracket bolts using the ratchet and a socket, then remove the bracket.
13. Remove the lower starter bolt using the ratchet and a socket and then remove the starter. To install, reverse the procedure.
2.0-Liter Spectra
14. Disconnect the colorless battery terminal using a ability wrench. Lift the automobile up on the vehivle lift to cut access to the starter. Place on the safety glasses before going underneath the Spectra.
15. Disconnect the exhaust conduit nuts and bolts. End a wrench to clutch the mind of the bolt stationary while using the ratchet and a socket to remove the nuts. Remove the exhaust main.12.
Disconnect the electrical connections from the starter using the ratchet and a socket.4. Remove the two upper starter bolts using the ratchet and a socket.
