1.Most blazing knives have need a bent source, so stay near one when removing your windshield.Removing your automobile's windshield with the aid of a hot knife is exactly the same process as with a specifically designed windshield knife or common razor blade. The purpose of the knife in the removal process is to cut the silicone or urethane adhesive holding the windshield in place.Put on safety goggles and gloves before starting, especially if your windshield is cracked or shattered.
2. Use a hot knife to cut through the weather stripping on the perimeter of the windshield. Pry off the loosened stripping with a slotted screwdriver.
3. Slice the urethane or silicone adhesive underneath the weather stripping with the hot knife by sliding the knife along the edge of the windshield. This should release the glass from the windshield frame.
4. Use a windshield pry bar to carefully pull up the edges of the loosened windshield glass.
5. Lift the windshield out of the frame. Be sure to wear protective gloves for this step, and ask for the help of an assistant if you have one.
