While a crack in the rear glass of your Acura TL may not be as daily as a crack or chip in the windscreen, it can yet happen. Conventional incidents of having automotive glass cracked or chipped allow for a rock from a lawnmower hitting your vehicle, or bantam debris picked up by the tires from other vehicles on the highway ahead of you. When you memo that your Acura's rear glass needs to be replaced, you can choose to receive the duty done at a glass shop or your Acura dealership.
Instructions
Pay for the work and/or file the insurance claim upon completion of the work. If your insurance company is going to pay for the work to be done, it may recommend that you use a shop on its approved list.
2. Call a recognized glass shop and your local Acura dealer to obtain a quote for the replacement of your car's rear glass. If the price for the part and labor adds up to more than your insurance deductible, you may wish to go through your insurance company to get the work done. If the cost estimate is less than your deductible, doing the work through the insurance company is wise. A glass shop will most likely quote you less than the Acura dealership.
3. Take your Acura TL to the reputable glass shop you previously contacted for an estimate. Once a technician has inspected the damage, he may indicate that he can actually repair, rather than replace, the glass. A rear glass repair is significantly cheaper than a full glass replacement. If the shop can repair your damage, it will likely cost less than your insurance deductible.
4. Book an appointment to have your rear glass replaced or repaired. If you've decided to use your insurance company, contact it to confirm the work.
5. Take your car to the glass shop at the designated time. Depending on the shop, the work may be done while you wait, or you may have to drop your Acura off and leave it for the day.
6.1. Decide if you'll satisfy the replacement duty done by going ended your insurance company. To help you make this decision, determine the price of your insurance deductible. When speaking to your insurance agent, obtain a list of the company's recognized glass shops.
