Use A Speedometer Cable On The 1984 Nighthawk

In the early 1980's, Honda updated the double of their cherished CB series motorcycles. Shifting outside from the round headlights used on preceding CB models, the recent CB650 Nighthawk was equipped with a distinctive rectangular headlight. Unfortunately, the alike headlight besides became a nuisance when the cable-driven speedometer required repair. Instructions


1. Remove the Allen attitude bolts that secure the headlight meeting to the front fork with an 8 mm Allen principal. One bolt on Everyone side secures the headlight meeting. Pull the headlight meeting gone from its brackets and pull off the wiring harnesses from both headlight bulbs. Establish the headlight assembly aside.


2. Remove the archetypal speedometer cable using a team of pliers to loosen the cable devotee. Reconnect the headlight bulbs to the wiring harnesses and slide the headlight assembly into the mounting brackets. Insert and tighten the 8 mm Allen head mounting bolts loosely. Adjust the vertical aim of the headlight and tighten the Allen bolts completely.


Go after the speedometer cable to the gear box on the front shove. Loosen the cable follower with a duo of pliers and pull the cable gratuitous from the gear box.


4. Slip the square location of the cable into the front turn gear box and tighten the cable nut with a pair of pliers. Route the new cable to the speedometer, following the original cables path. Slip the grooved cable end into the speedometer and tighten the cable nut with a pair of pliers.


5. Pull the cable gone of the speedometer and though the front forks. Receive communication of how the cable was routed to the speedometer.3.
