Remove A Damaged Brake Bleeder

Remove a Broken Brake Bleeder

The brake edge bleeder valve is an influential Element for maintaining the brakes of your vehicle. It allows you to remove the brake fluid that is held in the brake caliper during brake repair and brake pad replacement. During pad replacement, you demand to accessible the valve to avoid forcing stain fluid into the brake lines. Without the ability to open the valve you put the brake lines at risk when changing the pads.

Opening and closing the valve can wear on the metal of the valve leading to the breaking of the bolt itself. You can have a professional remove the broken valve and replace it with a new one, or you can do it yourself and save a considerable charge for labor.

Instructions

1. Loosen the lug nuts on the wheel of the broken bleed valve with the socket on the tire iron.

2. Lift the vehicle with the jack and place jack stands beneath the vehicle's frame. Lower the vehicle onto the stands. Remove the lug nuts and pull the wheel from the wheel bolts. If the broken valve is on a front wheel, turn the steering wheel to the opposite side as the wheel you are working on. (The left wheel requires turning the wheel to the right.)

3. Remove the caliper bolts. The two bolts are located on the inside wall of the caliper and can be removed with a 13-millimeter wrench. Pull the caliper from the rotor.

4. Fill the bucket with cold water.

Make sure the caliper is completely submerged. Pull the caliper from the water.8. Unscrew the bleed valve by placing the flat screwdriver into the freshly made grooves on the head of the valve.

Heat the bleed valve with the blowtorch. Keep the flame on the valve for 10 to 15 seconds, making sweeping passes over the valve.

7. Dip the entire caliper into the bucket of water.5. Saw crossing grooves on the top of the broken bleed valve. The grooves should be just deep enough to fit the head of a flat screwdriver.6.

Tap the hammer on the handle of the screwdriver to ensure that the blade of the screwdriver is in the groove.

9. Replace the broken valve with a new bleed valve.
