Minor scratches are often unnoticeable but sometimes can detract from a wood floor's overall aesthetic appeal. If your hardwood floors have a wax finish, basic supplies can effectively repair these scratches.

1.Weighty objects can scratch hardwood floors.Hardwood floors are recognized for their natural appearance, simple maintenance and longevity. Although wood floors are durable, they are not impervious to minor scratches from falling objects, shoe heels, furniture and other sources. Improper maintenance can cause abrasive dirt particles to accumulate and scratch the boards.
Sweep the scratched area of the floor with a broom to remove abrasive dirt and grime particles until the area is completely clean.
2. Rub gently along the length of the scratch with fine-grit sandpaper until the scratch disappears. Follow the direction of the wood grain. Sand the damaged area lightly to feather it in with the surrounding wood.
3. Dampen a soft rag with mineral spirits. Wipe away dust and grit particles with the damp rag. Allow the wood to air-dry.
4. Apply a small amount of paste wax to a clean microfiber cloth. Use a wax color that best matches the hardwood. Wipe the wax over the sanded area of the wood, following the manufacturer's directions on the product label.
5. Buff the wood with the microfiber cloth until the wax is evenly distributed. Use vigorous, circular motions to add shine.
