Replace An Energy Pump Inside A 92 Accord

Instructions


Removal

5. Open the trunk and locate the wire harness and connector for the fuel pump. Disconnect them.


6. Locate the fuel line protector and valve cover. Remove these using a wrench. Disconnect all lines and hoses that are attached to the fuel pump. Use wrenches to remove fuel lines.


7. Insert the floor jack underneath the fuel tank and raise it up until it just touches the tank.


8. Disconnect the fuel tank straps by removing the retaining nuts. Perform this with a ratchet and allow the straps to hang down.


9. Lower the floor jack to remove the fuel tank. Locate the nuts that hold the fuel pump in. Remove these with a wrench and pull the fuel pump out of the tank.


Installation


10. Insert the new fuel pump into the tank and take care to ensure that it is completely sealed.


12. Reconnect all fuel lines and wiring harnesses---don't forget the one in the trunk. Some fuel lines require new washers.


11. Raise the fuel tank back into the car using the floor jack. Tighten the fuel tank strap down by tightening the strap nuts. Remove the floor jack. Install these now if necessary.


13. Remove the jack stands by raising the vehicle with the floor jack. Carefully use the floor jack to lower the vehicle.


14. Reattach the negative battery terminal and tighten it down with a wrench. Test the fuel system by adding 3 gallons of gas to the tank and running the engine.
