Lubricate Universal Joints

All driveshafts cover a series of joints conscious as common joints. The universal joints connect the driveshaft to the transmission, rear neb or another driveshaft, and confess limited movement up and down. This limited movement allows the driveshaft to be connected at distinct angles. Universal joints include diminutive arrow bearings To admit for smooth movement, and thirst for Correct lubrication. Remove the grease gun from the zirk fitting.7. Repeat steps 4 through 6 for all remaining universal joints.



Jack up the vehicle and secure it with jack stands.


2. Scrutinize the driveshaft to fix the public joints. These are located at every aim that the driveshaft meets another Element.


3. Peep the universal joint; look for a small fitting about 1/4 inch in length. This fitting is known as a zirk fitting.


4. Press the end of the grease gun hose over the zirk fitting. It should click into place. If not, clean the fitting and try again.


5. Pump the grease gun until you see a small amount of grease ooze from the joint. This process varies depending on the type of grease gun you have.


6. Lubricate universal joints with grease during every oil interchange.
