Repair Dents In Metal Bumpers

Heat the entire dented area with a heat source like a hair dryer or heat gun. Hold the heat gun or hair dryer on the area for about a minute or two. Refrain from using a torch, as this damages paint and leaves a residue.


1. Thoroughly clean the area of the dent with a household cleaner and rag to remove dust and debris. Assess the dent to figure out where the deepest part is and where the dent ends. Make a mental note of these locations.2. You only need to raise the temperature of the metal slightly.


3. Immediately apply CO2 to the dented area. To do this, hold a can of compressed air upside down and point the spray straw toward the dent. Depress the handle to spray the material onto the metal. Coat the entire area.


4. Wait a few seconds and watch the dent pop out. The contracting metal will flex and pull out the dent without any additional touching or shaping. If not, reheat the dent for a longer period of time and spray more CO2 onto the surface. This will increase the chance for success.
