Removing the Starter Motor

12. Start the two mounting bolts by hand to prevent stripping the threads.
13. Tighten the two starter mounting bolts to 29-ft-lbs. (39 Nm) using a torque wrench.
14. Install the battery cable on the starter solenoid stud bolt and the retaining nut. Tighten the nut with the ratchet, ratchet extension and socket.
15. Plug the electrical connector to the solenoid.
16. Replace the engine splash shield, if applicable, using the ratchet, ratchet extension and socket.
17.Lower your Toyota using the floor jack.
18. Connect the ground (black) battery cable using the wrench and ratchet and socket.
19. Start the engine, make sure the starter operates properly and then turn off the engine.
