Replace A Heater Core For Any Next Year

Modify a Heater Core for a Ford Ranger


The heater core on a Ford Ranger pickup works in conjunction with the engine's cooling method to supply heated air for the passenger cabin. The heater core is a little radiator mounted in the passenger side of the sprint. Remove the five screws that connect the heater core access panel to the heater duct using a socket. The access panel Testament be located underneath the sprint on the passenger side of the vehicle.8.



Draining the Cooling System


1. Disconnect the ground cable from the contradiction battery terminal. Loosen the retaining bolt using a wrench. Then pull the clamp off the terminal.


2. Allot the petcock valve on the lower hold water corner of the radiator and levy a misspend oil assemblage pan underneath it.


3. Manage the petcock valve by turning it counterclockwise with darner nose pliers.


4. Hurried the petcock valve by turning it clockwise with the thorn nose pliers after all the coolant has drained gone.


Removing the Heater Core


5. Loosen the two hose clamps that secure the heater hoses to the heater core inlet and Issue tubes using a Phillips screwdriver. The inlet and outlet tubes Testament be located in the engine bay, at the firewall, on the passenger side of the vehicle.


6. Pull outside the heater hoses of the heater core inlet and Issue tubes with your hands.


7. Heated engine coolant travels from the engine ended a heater hose to the core. Air is blown across the core by the heater fan. This heated air is then directed to either the floor, sprint or defroster vents.

Instructions


Pull the access panel elsewhere from the heater duct.


9. Pull the heater core downward and In relation to the rear of the vehicle to remove it from the heater duct. Then remove it from the vehicle.


Installing the Heater Core


10. Slide the new heater core upward into the heater duct. Be sure to guide the inlet and outlet tubes through the holes in the firewall.


11. Place the heater core access panel into position over the heater duct.


12. Screw in the five screws that secure the access panel to the heater duct using a socket.


13. Slide the heater hoses onto the inlet and outlet tubes on the heater core.


Refilling the Cooling System


14. Tighten the hose clamps on the inlet and outlet tubes using a Phillips screwdriver.


15. Fill the radiator with a 50/50 mix of fresh antifreeze and water.


16. Run the engine and visually inspect for leaks.
