Install Hood Hooks Around The Ford Mustang

2. Close the hood. Insert a 1/8-inch drill bit into a power drill. Drill a pilot hole through the underside of the hood by using the hood pin mounting hole in the hood pin bracket as a guide. Repeat this procedure on both sides of the hood. Open the hood.


3. Remove the 1/8-inch drill bit from the drill and install a 3/4-inch hole saw with a locating device long enough to go through both layers of the hood. Drill completely through both 1/8-inch pilot holes on both sides of the hood.


4. Attach the hood pins to the hood pin brackets with the hardware provided. Tighten them snugly with a socket and ratchet wrench. Slowly close the hood to make sure the pins go through the holes you drilled in the previous step. Center the pins in the holes by sliding the brackets as needed. Open the hood and tighten the radiator bracket bolts with a socket and ratchet.


5. Close the hood. Install the hood pin trim plate over the pin. Make sure the plate is flush with the hood's surface. Drill through the small mounting holes on the trim plate into the hood with a 1/8-inch drill bit installed in the power drill. Drill a 1/8-inch hole between the spot welds on each side of the cross member. Attach a hood pin lanyard to each drilled hole with the screws provided. Replace the splash guard.


Secure the trim plate by driving the trim plate retaining screws into the drilled holes with a Phillips screwdriver. Do not over-tighten the screws or the hood could be damaged.6. Open the hood and locate the two spot welds on each side of the radiator cross member near the hood pins. Close the hood. Insert the pins at the end of the lanyards into the hood pins to secure the hood.
