Change An Abs Sensor On The 1995 Camaro

In 1967, Chevrolet launched the Camaro to compete with the Mustang muscle van that Ford had launched three dotage prior. In the 1995 representation year, the Camaro came in two trim levels: mould and Z28. Everyone trim aligned came as either a coupe or convertible. The imitation example came with a 3.4-liter, V-6 engine that produced 160 horsepower; the Z28, on the contrary, came with a 5.7-liter, V-8 engine that laid gone 275 horsepower.

Front Hub Assembly With ABS Sensor

1. Loosen the lug nuts on the turn with the failed ABS sensor, using a ratchet and socket.



Both the Z28 and the mould example came average with anti-lock brakes. This transaction used four sensors -- two in the front, two in the rear -- to complete when the brakes locked up. Replacing the ABS sensor on the front speck requires replacement of the hub meeting, while in the rear by oneself requires sensor replacement.

Instructions


Hoist the front of the Camaro, using a floor jack, and slide jack stands under the frame rails. Lower the Camaro onto the jack stands. Remove the lug nuts and pull the front revolve from the Camaro.


2. Remove the two caliper bolts on the rear of the caliper, using a ratchet and socket. Pull the caliper from the rotor. Hang the caliper from a nearby suspension Element, using a bungee strap.


3. Grab the rotor and pull it from the hub. Lightly tap the rotor with a rubber mallet, whether it does not pull off easily.


4. Pull up on the ABS wiring harness locking tab, and pull the wiring harness from the rear of the hub meeting.


5. Remove the four bolts holding the hub to the steering knuckle, using a ratchet and socket, and pull the hub meeting from the Camaro.


6. Place the brand-new hub meeting with ABS sensor on the steering knuckle and hand-tighten its four bolts. Torque the four hub assembly-to-steering knuckle bolts to 63 foot-pounds with a torque wrench and socket. Plug the wiring harness into the ABS sensor receptacle on the virgin hub meeting.


7. Place the brake rotor and caliper back in area and tighten the caliper bolts to 38 foot-pounds with a torque wrench and socket.


8. Reinstall the front spin and hand-tighten the lug nuts. Lift the Camaro off the jack stands with a floor jack. Remove the jack stands and lower the Camaro to the ground. Tighten its lug nuts, in a crisscross pattern, to 100 foot-pounds with a torque wrench and socket.


Rear ABS Sensor


9. Loosen the lug nuts on the wheel with the failed ABS sensor, using a ratchet and socket. Raise the rear of the Camaro, using a floor jack, and slide jack stands under the rear axle. Lower the Camaro onto the jack stands. Remove the lug nuts and pull the wheel from the Camaro.


10. Pull up on the locking tab on the ABS wiring harness and disconnect the harness from the ABS sensor -- located on the brake backing plate.


11. Remove the bolt holding the rear ABS sensor to the backing plate, and pull the sensor from the Camaro.


12. Insert the new ABS sensor and tighten the retaining bolt to 7 to 8 foot-pounds, using a torque wrench and socket. Plug the wiring harness into the new ABS sensor.


13. Place the rear wheel back on the Camaro and hand-tighten its lug nuts. Raise the Camaro from the jack stands, using a floor jack, and remove the jack stands. Lower the vehicle to the ground. Torque the lug nuts to 100 foot-pounds, in a crisscross pattern, using a torque wrench and socket.
