Your dashboard can buy cracked from exposure to sunlight, from the coercion of items placed on top of it, or from habitual wear and tear within the machine's interior. You can set a broad dashboard crack using the duplicate channels for fixing immature cracks, with an extra manner involving vinyl paint. Fixing a large dashboard crack can restore both the monetary and aesthetic value of your vehicle, and the job should take you only a few hours to complete.
Instructions
1. Insert your utility knife very carefully on one end of the crack and run it through the crack's groove to create space for the silicone caulking. Only do this if the crack's gap is too thin to be filled with caulking. The ideal width you should aim for is about 1/2 an inch.
2. Wipe the cracked area with a cloth that has been dipped in soapy water. Remove any dirt that has accumulated in the crack. Allow the area to air-dry instead of using a cloth or towel, which could leave lint and bits of cotton residue.
3. Fill the crack so it is even with the rest of the dashboard. Allow the caulk to dry for two hours.5.
Place painter's tape along both sides of the crack so that the silicone caulking does not bleed onto any area other than the crack.4. Squeeze the silicone caulk into the entire length of the crack.
Cover the crack with vinyl paint, which can be sprayed on lightly until the crack appears covered. This process is only used for large dashboard cracks that can still be seen after you fill them. Allow the vinyl paint to dry for several hours or overnight. Remove the painter's tape.
